Degree: Master of Medicine; Nationality: China; Languages: Mandarin; Dr Chen Baoguo is a board-certified chief physician with a Master of Medicine degree. Prior to joining Raffles Hospital, he worked as an attending physician in the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery at the Fourth Medical Centre of PLA General Hospital (304 Hospital), and later served as a plastic surgeon at Beijing United Family Hospital. He boasts solid clinical expertise in traumatic reconstruction and aesthetic plastic surgery. Dr Chen specializes in emergency treatment of wounds on the face, neck, limbs and other body surfaces. He adopts layered alignment suturing and tension reduction techniques to effectively minimize scar hyperplasia, resulting in inconspicuous, smooth and pale healed scars. Integrating medical aesthetic concepts, he performs one-stage aesthetic repair for burn, scald and surgical incision wounds, which greatly reduces postoperative deformities and scar residues while optimizing functional recovery. With over 20 years of experience in cosmetic wound suturing and post-traumatic reconstructive plastic surgery, Dr Chen was titled an International Scholar by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in 2018. He is the sixth physician in Chinese mainland to receive this honor, which funded his advanced training at top international institutions including Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, UT Southwestern Medical Centre and Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute.
